SJA Summer Basketball League
The SJA Basketball League was established in 1994 to promote sportsmanship and fair play, supportive instruction, and friendly competition for the youth of the Pawtucketville section of Lowell. The SJA Summer Basketball League has grown to serve Greater Lowell/Merrimack Valley communities (20+ communities in MA and NH) providing summertime activity for hundreds of children ages 6 to 17.

Basketball Coach Registration
We are looking for basketball coaches of all levels. Come join us in this exciting opportunity to work with the youth of Lowell and the surrounding towns and cities.
Registration Schedule

Tryout Schedule
All paid registered players are placed on a team regardless of skill level. Players can register online or in person at Lowell Catholic HS on Stevens Street in Lowell on Saturday, May 11. All registrants can participate in a quick skill assessment on May 11th in order to assist the division coordinators placing players on balanced teams. Players that registered online may attend the tryout sessions at any time on this date if they wish to be assessed. 6-9 year old participants are scheduled for tryout/assessment between 9-10:30am. 10-13 year old participants are scheduled for tryout/assessment between 10:30am and 12:30pm. 14-17 year old participants are scheduled for tryout/assessment between 12:30 - 2:00pm. We anticipate these sessions lasting about 15 minutes depending on the number of players that attend the event.
High School Team Divisions
The Middle School (fall of 2024 incoming 6th -8th grade students) and High School (fall of 2024 incoming 9th-12th grade students) Division is for local middle and high school teams looking to compete during the summer. NO TRAVEL or AAU TEAMS. All students registered for a school team must be registered to attend that school for the fall of 2024.

MIDDLE AND HIGH SCHOOL TEAMS can only be registered by School Team Coaches
Middle and High School Team coaches invite players to play on their team. The league does not place individual registered players on school teams.

DIVISIONS - Age Brackets
Boys and Girls Age Brackets
(based on age on or before August 31, 2024) . Levels may be modified based on player registrations.
- Girls Junior Division: 6-10 year old girls
- Girls Intermediate Division: 11-13 year old girls
- Girls Senior Division: 14-17 year old girls
- Boys Junior A Division: 7-9 year old boys
- Boys Junior B Division: 10-11 year old boys
- Boys Intermediate Division: 12-14 year old boys
- Boys Senior Division: 15-17 year old boys
Hoop Season 2024
Games are played at the newly named Saba Courts -3 outdoor basketball courts at Fr. Maguire Park - 80 Woodward Avenue, Lowell, MA 01854. (corner of Mammoth Road and Woodward Avenue across from the McAvinnue School).
Practices are scheduled by each team's coach based on their schedule through the month of June. Some teams practice during the season as time and court space permits.
10 game schedule will begin Monday, July 8th and run through August 23, 2024.
Boys games are typically scheduled on Monday and Wednesday nights. Girls games are typically scheduled on Tuesday and Thursday nights. Boys' games are scheduled at 5:30, 6:30, 7:30 and 8:30 pm. and girls' games are scheduled at 6:00, 7:00, 8:00 pm. The younger players are typically scheduled for the earlier time slots.
